It's that time of the year that most kids dread, and most parents look forward to.
BACK TO SCHOOL!
Except this time, it's different. There's no 'Back to School' feeling in the air. At least in this house.
And probably most other houses are feeling the same.
There's no back to school haircuts needed. No back to school wardrobe. No new lunch bag or book bag is needed. And the back to school supplies are a bit different this year. Because there's not really a Back to School.....it's more like 'Back to Home!'
It's like groundhog day. Everyday. Foreverrrrrrrrrrrr. Lol, excuse me I'm just going a bit stir crazy after ALL the family togetherness. I just want to be able to go to the bathroom without my daughter in attendance. Or to just not hear "Mama!?" for more than five minutes. Ahhh, the good 'ol days! Remember them???
I hope and pray this year's virtual learning is better than the crisis schooling we encountered earlier this year. It's gotta be, right? RIGHT??!! :)
I, along with many other Americans were one of casualties of employment from this disease, so I guess that was a blessing in disguise? Because I don't know about you, but me trying to teach my 6 year old daughter ANYTHING while trying to work remotely at the same time was the greatest obstacle I ever faced in my life.
I guess it's a blessing that I don't have that pesky full time job anymore, that provided a stable income for the past eleven years, to get in the way of my kid's homeschooling experience, right??
(she wrote with extreme sarcasm)
So, until life returns to "normal", if it ever does again, I guess we will just take it one day at a time. Like we have for the last six months. Can you believe it's only been 6 months??!!! And until, that day returns, I assume the obligatory school photos will not be taking place this year, so I have decided to take matters into my own hands this year and offer my services! I am a photographer after all! I just needed a couple shots to advertise what I could offer this school year in lieu of the old standard.
And luckily I just happen to have 2 unwilling photo subjects at my very own disposal ;)
Surprisingly no children were bribed, or threatened, or strongly talked to in ANY of these photos! They were perfect angels! I mean, my twelve year old son , Alex is COMPLETELY miserable and it probably shows! BUT he kept his complaints to himself :)
And my seven year old daughter, Ava ACTUALLY cooperated!!! There was no fits! No temper tantrum. No crying. No whining. From either of us!! This was actually the easiest photo shoot I have ever experienced with my kids!
So, I guess that is one good thing about this "back to school" situation.....my kids cooperated in a photo shoot. Hey, I'll take whatever win I can get! :)
To all the moms, dads and other caregivers out there trying to teach their kids this Virtual School Year HANG IN THERE!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Just think to yourselves (we have Fridays "off!") well, at least that's what I'm telling myself! ;)
And to all of the teachers out there, all the school staff WE SALUTE YOU!!! You guys are definitely heroes in my book. You deserve massive raises and I hope that you know how truly grateful all us parents are for putting up with not only our children but with US as well!!
From the Schaefer home,
we Thank you, thank you, thank you
from the bottom of our hearts!!
xoxo
